Preparation for the interview is imperative:

* Find out as much information as you can about IBM and the business units you might be interested in.
* Prepare questions that you would like to ask the interviewer about career opportunities in IBM.

* Be honest in your answers. The Interviewer is trying to place you in a role that will develop your potential.

It was cool. We did two group activities, then there were two 25 minute interviews, one personal and one technical. They seemed like very nice people, and the environment was very cool. Then they subjected us to a 1 hour Information Processing and Aptitude Test (IPAT), which was no where near as hard as Cambridge’s, but still pretty challenging…

I have heard that IBM does not focus on the specific major requirements for the candidates. May I apply for the business unit which is not relevant to my major?
Potential and personal capabilities are the most important factors to be considered when we are looking for an employee. Some of the functions might prefer some technical backgrounds; however, there are no strict criteria on the specialty.

9) Are campus hires required to take an aptitude test?
Yes, all candidates who apply for graduate positions are required to take an IBM aptitude test. Those who have satisfactory result will be short-listed for face to face interview of next step.

10) What kind of interview will I receive? Will interviews be conducted in English or Chinese?
The Human Resources department and/or our vendor will screen all applications and shortlist candidates for hiring managers. Qualified candidates will be invited to have interviews with IBM hiring manager directly.
The interview methodology IBM uses is behavior-based structured interview. That means we will ask you questions about previous experiences you have had in terms of competencies and technical skills.

11) When do the jobs start?
The jobs generally commence in April or July after you have completed your degree.

12) When will I get Offer?
You can refer to the IBM campus recruitment schedule. Once we finish the 2nd round interview conducted by IBM hiring managers, the offers will be issued within 2 weeks.

13) Do I need to attend any internship program conducted by IBM once I successfully get IBM offer?

Interview Procedure

There are two rounds of interviews, viz., the technical and and the HR
round.

Technical and Personal Round for Software Candidates Mainly subjective
questions in C, Operating Systems, DBMS, Data Structures are asked
interspersed with some on the candidate’s personal background.

Typical questions in C and Data Structures

In this section, case studies are presented are presented before the
candidate to percieve his reaction and his/her communication skills are
tested. IBM expects teamwork and teamspirit from the candidates and their
answers should reflect this attitude.

Typical question is:
You are a project manager of a big multinational project.There is a person
X, assigned to you who has the best technical skills required for the
project,even better than you.But he wishes to be the project manager ,which
the management does not permit,due to which he threatens to quit.All others
in the group are not as competent.Talk yourself out of this situation
pretending that the interviewer is the disgruntled employee and explain the
neceessary action.

I have faced two round of interview at IBM on 01-oct-2005. I was told to wait for offer letter, but still I have not received that – what could be the factor and how can I varify it?

I was interviewed by a very nice technically sound interviewer. We had very good wavelength so it worked out. I do take lots of interviews at IBM and have recruited few among them. IBM looks out for quality of the candidate with Confidence and Good Communication. So I pick my candidates on their tehnical genuity.

The written test is of 1hr and consists of 2 sections — aptitutde & technical , each having 25 questions

2. one persont travlled 4 laps with the speed of 10,20,40 ( or 30) and 60 kmph

Thought I’d add my 2 cents ’bout IBM-interview experiences… 1st was the phone-call/1st interview which lasted about 45min-1hr. Covered the Job Duties & Responsibilities as well as some other job details, my Experience/Skills, & then a few scenarios that I had to talk myself out of. 2nd encounter was an on-site Interview which lasted about three and a half hours. Basically talked to 3 groups of people (not at the same time) about the Job Duties (again, lasted hour), specific topics like C/C++, TCP/IP, Client/Server scenarios, etc…, and then more Job Scenarios. I have to state that the employees were exceptionally personable and courteous. 3rd encounter was the IPATO Test… so now I’m awaiting “the” phone-call/email. Wish me luck!!! (Thx!)

I think I gave decent answers to all the questions. 2nd round took around 1 hour. Now waiting for a offer letter! wish me luck guys!!!

Today I attend the interview of IBM.I apply for the technical position,but I found that no technical question appeared in the written test,just some mathmatics questions.All of that puzzled me all questions in very short time. All four parts :

Hi, I know quite a few people have left advice on what to do when attending an IBM interview, however, I have not got to that stage left! I have just had confirmation that I can go on to take their IPATO test online. I have taken an aptitude test in the past and failed badly. I really really want this job and can prepare for interviews, however, I would really appreciate some advice on how I can tackle this test. Is there any way that I can prepare for a data matrices/numberical reasoning/number series test?

I got selected for IBM interviwed by IBM employees conducted in a consultancy on July 19th. But, still now I didn’t received offer letter. Please any one can tell their experience like this. Can I still hope they will send offr letter or not?
